52 Breakfasts: #25
Nothing special for this week’s 52 Breakfast. No spending time cooking early in the morning, no trying out new ingredients, no assembling food over and over again. Just plain old wholemeal bread with egg.
Having no proper object for a shoot was a good reason for me to procrastinate but decided I should make a picture out of it anyway. So, here it is guys!

52 Breakfasts: #24
This week’s 52 Breakfasts, I had something different for a change. I had Kiwi for breakfast! Not that I don’t eat it all the time for breakfast, cos I do! But I never shot fruits as an object for my 52 Breakfasts series. So here’s my Kiwi! :)

Thoughts: Great responsibility
“With great power comes great responsibility. Don’t go too far!”
…was what I came across when reading Popular Photography’s article on retouching images.
I can’t help but agree, especially when it comes to portraits. Everyone wants to look good, but no one wants their picture to look photoshopped. Most people still want to look themselves and I truly believe that that should be the case simply cos everyone has something beautiful in them.
It’s a photographer’s responsibility to capture the beauty in people, not photoshop’s.
Photography & Monkeys
If I’m reading another photographer’s blog bearing such a title, I would have automatically looked for some photos of monkeys. But, before you get your expectations high, there will be no photos of monkeys in this post. Not even a photo of a monkey soft toy or a monkey key chain.
It’s just about something I randomly came across the other day while watching Zack Arias’ online weekend workshop. It was the first time I learned about the terms “lightmonkey” and “chimping”.
Did you know that Einstein once referred to photographers as “lightmonkeys”? I personally find that a cute term even though Einstein definitely didn’t mean it to be cute when he said that. In contrast, according to this site, he didn’t really like photographers that much. He thought of photographers as unimaginative!
As for chimping, it actually means the action of photographers checking the display on the camera after shooting a picture. As for how it came about, here’s an excerpt taken from Wiki.
The phrase is most likely derived from comparison between the sounds and actions some make while reviewing images and those of an excited primate (Oooh! Oooh! Aaah!), or when a photographer is completely absorbed in the act of analyzing, admiring or proudly displaying a shot to others.
Anyway, found it amusing when I heard of the terms and just thought I’d have to share it here. :)
P.S. Now I can officially call my monkey photographer brother a lightmonkey!!

Scrambled tofu egg

Nope, not a 52 Breakfast post. I know whenever I post food pictures here, it’s always for the 52 collection but today I just thought I’d share something nice to end the week. One of my experiments – Scrambled tofu egg sandwich! :)
For those who are wondering what scrambled tofu egg means, beat an egg and add in some mashed tofu, soymilk, rosemary, salt and pepper. Pan fry it (but don’t overcook it) and there, you’ve made yourself some scrambled tofu egg!

This week’s 52 breakfasts post: Fresh vege with vege herb spread on flat bread!
