Snapping Dreams

Photos: Balik Kampung

As Malaysians would already know, Chinese New Year is the worst time to travel in Malaysia. But yet, everyone still travels just for the sake of a reunion with relatives and friends during the festive season. Even though I’m not the one driving, I dread the bad traffic when moving from one place to another. Traveling time could easily double when one is unlucky.

So to make sure my balik kampung trip would be well worth the crazy traffic, I brought my camera along. Here’s some of what made all the bad traffic worth it! :)

Blue skies along the way from Kuala Lumpur to Penang!

Short break for lunch at a random kopitiam in Ipoh.

Kids gather to play in the evening.

Hawker food – never to be missed when in Penang!

Gambling and drinking. Typical CNY activities.

Terrible traffic but beautiful skies on the way home.

  2. It’s nice to see your document even a simple trip back home. I guess the jam really got to you and the camera gave you some relief from the mundane ride.
